the knowledge book downplayed holidays and blood.. witness kids were told they could go to college.
the new worship book - as a re-edited "united" book - removed all mention of.
Sir82, I like your theory. Back in 2001 I was just starting to lurk here, I remember all the speculation going on about this "special" meeting that was to be held. And then afterwards, the letdown when there was no "big news" announced. Deja vu, huh?
I can see where 9/11 may have been at least partly responsible for a shift towards a more hardline stance. Whether or not it the special meeting had anything to do with blood and the blood card fiasco... who can say?

Sure it *may* open the way for a lawsuit, but who is going to sue? I can guarantee you that 99% of the JW families that have lost family members will still believe they were doing what Jehovah wanted. They would never imagine suing the Society over it. And if they do, the Society will reply with, we never told you to refuse blood! We only told you how Jehovah feels about it, you made your own decision using your Bible-based conscience.
It says so right on the blood card: "I ____________ have chosen to abstain from blood." And then it has a signature at the bottom with two witnesses.

when we studied this para in todays watchtower i found it hard to believe that an elder would think this way, what do you think?
16 yes, no matter what dark valley we may find ourselves in, we do not have to walk through it alone.
our shepherd is with us, helping us in ways that we may.
Keep in mind too, in JW-think, for a person to question Jehovah, while indicating weakness, is still not as bad as to question the organization...

i am an elder.. after the meeting all the elders were called to the back room.
i thought this was an impromptu elders' meeting.

Elders are cowards. Ignore their "counsel" and keep dealing with your kids the way you see fit. If they confront you again, tell them they can mind their own business, and that if they have a problem with that, you are more than ready to "step down". Odds are they will back off, and if they do remove you from the elder body, hey, thats a win for you too.

11/23/2005 south park tv show staff named as factnet person(s) of the year for 2005 for their recent scientology tom cruise john travolta episode.
That was an awesome South Park episode! Although the whole Tom Cruise in the closet subplot - yes we get it, rumor is that Tom is gay, yes, "come out of the closet Tom", haha ok it was only funny the first two or three times...
But I was thinking the same thing, pretty ballsy attack on Scientologists. I'm sure there are at least a couple lawyers at Comedy Central that were sweating over this episode.
Now let's see them do an episode where we learn that Butters is a JW. It would explain a lot.

While the answers to the section "From This Issue" will be found throughout the magazine, the answers to most of the other questions will appear on a designated page in the same issue, where they will be printed upside down.
No Way!!!! Let me see if I understand this. There's going to be questions that I will have to think about, and then try to figure out what the answer is? And then if I turn to another page in the same issue, then I can look and see if my answer is right??? But it will be upside down? So that if I am just casually paging through the many pages of the magazine, I won't accidently see the answers before I have even had time to think about the questions?? I will have to actually find this other page, and then somehow figure out how to read the answers that they have printed upside down!!!!!
How cool is that!!! I can't believe how freaking sweet this will be!! And it sounds like it will be in every issue!!
Now what it doesn't make clear in this letter, is, at the bottom of the list of questions, will there be a note telling us which pages the answers are on? I bet there won't be. That way we will no doubt find some other articles that look interesting while we are trying to find these answers, so then we will read those articles too. I know that's what will happen to me. Before I know it, I'll have read every article in the Awake! magazine!
This is almost as good as when they would have - you guessed it! the crossword puzzles in the Awake!. Remember those? I used to spend so much time trying to figure out all the answers to those dang crossword puzzles. But it was really fun. And then for those, they would tell you which page the answers were on, but I don't remember if they were upside down or not.
Anyway, this sounds awesome. I can't wait for the January(monthly!!!) edition of the Awake! to come out.

i just watched the local bbc news and there was a story about a woman who'd fed her baby while sitting on a public bench.
she finished and was on her way when a police car drew up beside her and asked her to stop.
there had been a complaint.
That's a false analogy. Restrooms are used for sanitary, odor, and health reasons. Eating is publicly accepted, and it is of no detriment to the public. Why should babies have to be hidden while they eat? Are you that afraid of seeing a baby while eating? Sheesh!
Its not a false analogy, you just ran with it way too far and in the wrong direction. The point I am making(and that you completely ignored) is that just because something is natural means I want to look at it. Its not the baby I don't want to see, duh! Look, here in America the last thing anyone wants to see in public is a naked breast, just ask Janet Jackson. Call it sexist, call it prudish, whatever, its the way it is. We're a wacky country, but you gotta love us. Or you can be the next country we invade, its up to you. No Apologies(of the its-late-and-I'm-goofy class)
